Chaplain Training
Welcome to Chaplain Training!
At the Chaplaincy Training Center of Excellence, we believe that Training is essential to the formation of a Professional Chaplain. Here, we specialize in providing comprehensive and high-quality contextualized training for individuals who are interested in becoming Chaplains in a variety of settings.
Our training programs are designed to complete your required training such as Seminary or Clinical Pastoral Education by preparing you to be a Chaplain and to contextualize your ministry to the Corporate world, Emergency, First Responder or Crisis Chaplaincy, Correctional and Educational Institutions, Sports Teams, Hospitals, Hospice, Elder Care Facilities, and many other places of ministry.
The Center of Excellence was founded by Kimberly Moses, who recognized the need for specialized training in these fields. With years of experience serving in various Chaplain roles, we understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with ministry in these demanding environments.
Our training programs are built on a foundation of respect for all faiths, compassion, character and ethics, and cultural competence. We believe that effective Chaplaincy requires a deep understanding of one’s own faith along with an understanding of the diverse needs and perspectives of the communities we serve. Our programs provide Chaplains with the tools and knowledge they need to serve their communities with empathy, respect, and professionalism.
Whether you are looking to start a career as a Chaplain, or you are a seasoned professional looking to enhance your skills, our training programs are tailored to meet your needs. We offer both online training, as well as specialized courses and workshops to meet the specific requirements of different Chaplaincy settings.
At The Chaplaincy Training Center of Excellence, we are committed to supporting our students every step of the way. Texas Schools Chaplains
Our newest Course meets the needs of TX SB763 and the opportunity for individuals to volunteer or be employed as Chaplains in the Texas School System. If you are an ISD Superintendent who is interested in filling this role in your Schools, we are here to help prepare and educate your Chaplains so that they will be best equipped to face the challenges they will encounter and become a value-added part of the team. If needed, we are able to recruit Professional Chaplains who best meet your needs.
Our training will prepare each Chaplain to do the following:
work in a pluralistic environment, recognizing the value of each individual
work alongside the School Counselor to provide Care to students and teachers
understand current prevention programs and how they as Chaplains can augment these programs
understand and work with the restorative discipline and restorative justice practices
provide culturally relevant instruction
provide appropriate mental health support alongside the School Counselor
provide suicide prevention, intervention and postvention alongside the School Counselor
advise the School Administration as to any mental health or behavioral issues that they become aware of
advise the School Administration on religious and moral issues related to the free exercise of religion for all
A professionally trained Chaplain understands the needs of each School within the ISD and is able to integrate into the Staff Team. They understand what it means to be part of a team, and to pitch in when necessary whether as a substitute teacher, or as a liaison to the community. A Professional Chaplain focuses on the needs of the students and the faculty and understands the stresses of working in a challenging environment that demands every ounce of energy. As part of the team, the Professional Chaplain gets to know each student and staff member and is aware of who is having a difficult day. They work within the School and within the family system to strengthen the student and help them feel included and challenged to want to do their best. A Professional Chaplain will work to mitigate the mental health challenges that students face and will be a partner to the School Counselor in all areas, following their lead and experience.
Dr. Rene' L. Sawatsky brings years of experience in the Texas School System as our subject matter expert.
